2ESO just completed their project titled "be water my friend" and this past week I showed them a video that included clips of the beautiful Columbia River Gorge.  The Columbia River Gorge is a deep canyon of the Columbia River that stretches 130km as the river moves westward.  It is a much forested area with hundreds of km of hiking trails.  It also has many camping sites as well as other outdoor recreation.  It is known for is pristine beauty and being extremely green with many creeks, springs and waterfalls.  Portland (the biggest city of Oregon) receives all its water from the Bull Run River which is within the Cascade mountain range and the Gorge. With that said, clean, fresh water is very common within this area of Oregon due to our large amount of rainfall as well as the protection for nature in this area.

Currently in Oregon there is a big debate between Oregonians and the local government.  The company Nestlé wants to bottle water from a creek in the Gorge for private profit. This is very dangerous for the Columbia River Gorge because of the threat it poses to our wildlife and nature.  But that’s not all, Nestlé wants to bottle public watered for private use.

Below is a video about the current situation with Nestlé and the people of oregon.  It shows some of the facts about bottled water as well as many clips of the Columbia River Gorge.
