A Science Question

A gas law question

The Students of Physic and Chemistry of 3º ESO have an exercise of Unit two.

First, they must visit the web http://www.grc.nasa.gov/WWW/K-12/airplane/aboyle.html
and they must find the answers to the following questions:

1- What gases properties are studied in this experiment?
2- What did Boyle observe?
3- Explain this relationship.

Then they must write the solution in the blog. We will check it and decide which the best answer is.

Good luck!

  1. 1.- We can observe with our senses any properties, including the gas pressure (p), temperature, mass and the volume (v) wich contains the gas.

2.- Boyle observed that the product of the pressure and volume are observed to be nearly constant.

    3.- P x V = Constant.
The product of pressure (p) and volume (v) is exactly a constant for an ideal gas.
This relationship between pressure and volume is called Boyle's Law in his honor.

  3. Hi! My name is Ernesto Tapia and I'm a student of 3º ESO A

    1.- The propierties are:
    -pressure (p)
    -mass
    -temperature
    -volume (V)

2.- Boyle observed that when the volume of a gas is reduce, the pressure grow and is multiply by two.
this explain that the volume and the pressure are inverly proporcional. Some year later other scientific complement this theory including that the temperature need to be the same.

    3.- P x V = Constant/ or / P1 x VI = P2 x V2.
    This is called Boyle's Law.
The product of pressure and volume is exactly a constant.

  4. Hello! I'm Rocío of 3º ESO B.
    My answers are:

1º) Properties observed in this experiment are:
    -Pressure
    -Temperature
    -Mass
    -Volume

2º) Boyle observed that the volume and pressure of a gas are inversely proportional because the volume is reduced and the pressure grows twice.

    3º) Boyle's Law are these:
    --> P x V = Constant (K)
    --> P1 x V1= P2 x V2.
The product of pressure and volume is a constant.

    This is all!
    A greeting! :)

  5. Hello! My name's Alvaro Cepeda of 3rd bilingual.

1.) In this experiment, the gases properties that are studied are:
pressure (p), temperature, mass and volume (v).

2.) Boyle observed that the product of the volumen (v) and pressure (p)are observed almost constant.

    3.) Boyle's law:
explein that the product of the pressure (p) and volume (v) is certainly constant and its formula is: p1 x v1 = p2 x v2
